Read below for an overview of Volunteer Roles at Branham Hills Little League.
PRIMARY TEAM ROLES
A Team Manager will cover all of the volunteering hours for the current season, regardless of the number of children you have in the league. In this role, you will manage the practice schedule and practice plans. The manager is also responsible to follow the BHLL Code of Conduct.
Each team has 2 official Assistant Coaches who will support the team manager in facilitating practices and games. As a volunteer Coach, you are responsible for following the BHLL Code of Conduct.
The Score Keeper is responsible for inputting the team lineup into GameChanger and scorekeeping at all home games. For games, as the visitor, you are responsible for managing the scoreboard that is visible to the teams and fans. (AA [optional], AAA, Majors only)
Additionally, you are responsible for following the BHLL Code of Conduct as a volunteer.
Team Parent/Coordinator supports the manager and the league throughout the season. Typically this includes getting player numbers from the players, acquiring the team's jerseys and practice shirts, and getting the names, #'s, and LL patches on before the season opener. You will be communicating with families throughout the season about events, volunteer requirements, and game RSVP's. This role will also assist the manager in gathering the required safety forms for each player, inputting events into TeamSnap and GameChanger (as needed), and, most importantly, coordinating the end of the year party for the team. Lastly, as a volunteer you are responsible for following the BHLL Code of Conduct.
CRITICAL TEAM ROLES
The Dugout Supervision (MicroT, TBall, Single A, AA) role supports the players and coaches during the game to ensure the players are following all field and dugout safety rules. Additionally, they may help with player equipment and make sure players are ready for their next turn up to bat or on the field. (approx 2-hour shift per game). Families should expect to share this responsibility and sign up for at least 1 (or more) dugout supervision shifts per season. It’s literally the BEST seat in the house!
During Field Setup, this integral role will ensure that the fields are ready and safe before each game. This role shall be fulfilled by parents who are not coaching, so our coaching staff can prepare players for the game. All field setup directions will be followed (per the directions listed for individual fields). (approx 15-20 minute shift before the game). The visiting team is responsible for setting up the field.
During Field Clean Up, this role will ensure that the fields are cleaned up after the game. This role shall be fulfilled by parents who are not coaching so that our coaching staff can meet with players after the game. All field clean up directions will be followed (per the directions listed for individual fields). (approx 15-20 minute shift after the game) The home team is responsible for field clean up. Every family should expect to sign up for at least 2 (if not more) field set up/clean up shifts per season.
Snack Shack - each family will be responsible for at least 3 snack shack duties per season, per player. Team parents will coordinate the schedule and timing for these roles. During this 3-hour shift, 3-4 parents will work inside the snack shack to assist customers with ordering and fulfilling food orders. A maximum of 2 teens can be requested to cover snack shack cashiering duties per shift. Additionally, 1-2 adults will work the grill during each shift. Teens cannot work a grill shift. (approx 3 hours per shift).
